These days internet has been filled with tons of websites containing miscellaneous content. This contains objectionable content that may not be acceptable by common people. thus, strict actions have been undertaken by the judiciary of India.
The department of Telecom has made clear instructions to internet service providers to block domain url’s with any sorts of objectionable content.
The sum total of 4694 URL’s have been blocked by internet service providers (ISP). These all websites contained traces of child abuse and this has been reported in parliament on last Wednesday.
Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha has made a reply to the Lok Sabha and instructions by DOT to ISP from 2016 to 2017 (till 30 November) to block 1791 URLs (uniform resource locator), including Facebook pages and youtube videos.
Sinha stated that internet service providers are blocking these internet websites and URLs with the help of latest technology. Though, presently, the current technology is not capable enough to block the content of particular website.
In another survey, Minister of Electronics and IT Alfonos has made a conclusion that 1329 URLs were blocked by 587 URL’s of social media websites and special web pages, 964 in 2016 and other on 30th November 2017.
As per the order made in the various courts of the country, in 2015, a total of 632 URL’s were blocked, 100 in 2016, and 83 in the year 2017, 83 social media websites containing ton of web pages have also been blocked by internet service providers with the help of modern technology.
In the coming months, we can see more strict laws being implemented on various content spread over the world wide web.
